The past day has been a rough one Batman fans around the globe. After much anticipation and excitement surrounding the future of a possible Batman solo film, news broke that Ben Affleck was no longer interested in directing The Batman solo film. Affleck, who made his way to DC movie and comic book lover hearts, said that he prefers to focus on his role as an actor and producer. Despite the unfortunate turn of events, news has been circulating that Ridley Scott will take over as director of the film.

Thanks to Deadline, fans have learned The Batman script has much more progress than previously announced. Over the past month give or take, Affleck gave Batman fans tidbits of updates regarding the progress of the script and now reports have come in that the star has finished a drafter of script with DC Comics’ Geoff Johns. Also, a rewrite of the project was just completed by the screenplay writer of both Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League.

Chris Terrio, who may be best-known for his work on Argo, decided to assist in the progression of The Batman as well. As of now, fans are not sure about the future of the movie however with news that Scott will be directing the film, some relief of stress has been given.

“Affleck, who most recently helmed Live by Night, wrote the script with Geoff Johns, and a rewrite was just turned in by Chris Terrio, the Oscar-winning scribe of the Affleck-directed Argo. Our sister publication Variety was first to confirm Affleck’s exit as director.”
